for personal reference
Name: Light Yagami reborn as Luke Oswald
Canon: Death Note, anime/manga
Appearance: A sociopathic khaki elemental.
History: Nahhhhhh everyone knows the drill. Boy finds notebook, boy meets shinigami, boy meets gross girl, boy meets grosser boy, boy kills boy, boy becomes god until two more boys turn up. Boy makes girl kill one, other boy beats boy, boy dies pathetically flopping around a warehouse floor.
Personality: Oh my god, Light Yagami is a douchelord. Never be like Light Yagami. Fuck this, I know his personality.
Abilities: Nothing besides somehow managing to make girls cream themselves over cheesy lines about destiny.
Age: 28
Species: Human
Appearance: Black-haired but otherwise the same.
Starting Location: Mu, the American town he's been elected mayor of.
History: Luke was born in a small town just west of a big city. He was smart from the beginning but not particularly ambitious. As a teenager, he felt the world sucked, but he grew the fuck out of that and became a member of society who, if not world-changing, was pretty okay. He was a swim instructor part-time and worked in soup kitchens other part-time. He was out of the closet and in a committed long-term relationship with his boyfriend, who he lived with. Then, everything changed when the aliens attacked. Everything was terrible, the world was chaotic, and Luke found himself in a position where he could either hole up and try to weather the storm, or he could step up and make a difference. Thanks to a barrage of plot Echoes, he chose the latter. Unfortunately, as a mayor, he doesn't really have time to lifeguard anymore. Instead, he's making decisions that will affect the wellbeing of the people he has chosen to take care of as well as the occasional underhanded deal and deleted record. His relationship with his boyfriend is strained. Luke has changed; he's less open than he used to be, more stressed, and not taking care of himself as well as he should. They're still together, for now.
Personality: He's still a horribly stuck-up person, but he's not nearly at the delusions-of-godhood point. Up until a year ago, when the alien invasion happened, Luke was content to volunteer at shelters and soup kitchens and help his community in small ways. He didn't think he stood a chance at effecting real change, and also, it felt nice to make a difference in a tangible way. There was real emotional payoff in it. But the echoes he's gotten from Light have left him with a drive he didn't have before, a need to go out and change things for the better, and also, though he hasn't really realized it, a need to be important, to be looked up to. He's got the potential to go bad, and the danger lies in him believing that the end justifies the means and that he knows best. In his time as a politician, Luke has come to believe that some secrets need to be kept from the public to maintain order and prevent panic. They're living post-alien-invasion and order is a fragile thing -- at least, that's how he justifies it to himself. Luke means well, and he's not a murderer. He's a little corrupt in a way that is, if not unselfish, indirectly selfish. He doesn't do things simply to benefit himself, but he does move with the intention of remaining in power so that he can continue to care for Mu. No one's caught him yet, so he's only had to justify his actions to himself.
Starting Echoes:
1-Ambition. He's had this one longest, for a year.
2-Optimism. They're going to make it out of this all right.
3-Brown hair so I can keep the icons.
4-TIER 2-The watch with the secret compartment + a piece of the Death Note inside. He doesn't remember it's in there or how to get it, and it doesn't work. But it's a nice watch, so he wears it.
